Extended School

Blue River Extended School provides additional outbound learning activities for 8 - 16 year ols in the evenings, weekends and summer holidays. Blue River Extended School aims:

  • To intervene and help the development of the emotional intellect.
  • To intervene so as to raise self esteem, build on their confidence and encourage social integration.
  • To equip the youngsters with the life skills required to become positive citizens of the multi cultural society that we live in today.
  • To ensure that children achieve the academic qualifications that will help them in their future careers.
  • To ensure that the youngsters have all the psychological help needed for them to be able to deal with the trauma that is associated with migration.

The Ofsted NEET report 2010 recognised this as enabling the young people to “ extend their existing skills and qualifications and also to gain a better understanding of their own capabilities by taking part in new experience ”.
